Il Museo Nazionale Atestino di Este, nato nel 1834 come Museo Civico Lapidario, ha sede dal 1902 nel prestigioso palazzo cinquecentesco della famiglia veneziana Mocenigo, che ingloba nella facciata un tratto delle mura del castello trecentesco dei Carraresi e ospita i materiali archeologici più rappresentativi della cultura dei Veneti, che abitarono la Regione durante tutto il corso del I millennio a.C. Tra le migliaia di reperti esposti spiccano la famosa Situla Benvenuti, la principesca tomba di Nerka e la tomba Pelà 2, con il vaso a forma di palmipede.

Este National Museum

The Este National Museum, born in 1834 as Lapidary Civic Museum, has been located since 1902 in the prestigious sixteenth-century palace of the Venetian family Mocenigo. The palace incorporates in the facade a section of the walls of the 14th-century Carraresi castle and hosts the most representative archaeological artifacts of the Veneto inhabitants, who lived in the Region throughout the entire course of the I millennium B.C. Among the thousands artifacts exposed stand out the renowned Situla Benvenuti, the princely tomb of Nerka, and the Pelà tomb, with its palmed-shaped vase.
